Fall is for Family!

 At AoHV we love when the leaves change color, the weather gets crisp and cool, and celebrating upcoming Fall events with the children. There are so many fun and enriching activities to do and see, making memories, experiments, and having gatherings. Our favorite theme is Fall is for Family. The children all get to discuss what makes them special, highlighting their families and animals, similarities and differences, culture and unique characteristics. The friendships they build with their school family is genuine and long lasting. Shaping their experiences and promoting play teaches them all positive social skills and encourages responsible character and citizenship! We can't wait to show you more of our sweet school family!

Fall Educators Conference: Teacher Strong!

    This year our Fall Conference was conducted a little different than in previous years. Our special guest Mrs. Lisa Murphy held a zoom call to give us fun ideas of things to do with the children. Her goal was to help us identify and create child centered environments while using developmentally appropriate practices. 

     Each educator was given an Army style backpack with teacher goodies inside. It was so much fun winning special prizes and our teachers are all grateful to be such a special part of a wonderful company that holds so much value for the education of their children and employees. We're welcoming Fall soon!

Science Week!

Children learn best when they're involved in the learning. This means getting to ask questions and have discussion, and it can also mean letting their interest guide planning. Children need their senses engaged! Hands-on science activities let children do just that, giving the kids a chance to engage multiple senses. Children learn by doing! Hands-on science encourages the children to do something- observe, ask questions, touch, smell, experiment. Allowing children to really get into science gives them the chance to make discoveries on their own. They'll be more likely to remember a learning experience if it's just that... a real experience.

I Don't Know What's Wilder?!

The children had an amazing time playing in the mud! It's pretty wild to let them play in the mud, but they love it! The children had a wild time touching, scooping, smelling, and putting water in the mud. What a great day!

Wild Things!

 Speaking of "Wild Things"our Preschool 4 class is learning about tadpoles this week! Did you know: Bullfrog Tadpoles can grow as long as a banana? Tadpoles hatch from eggs. Poison-dart tadpoles ride on their mother's back. They use gills to breathe. Tadpoles eat plants and algae. The class also learned about frogs because that is what their tadpoles are turning into. Did you know: There are over 4,700 species of frogs! Many frogs can jump 20 times their own height. Every year that a frog goes into hibernation, a new layer of bone forms. We had a lot to learn about these "Wild Things"!

Exploring Babies!

 Babies explore people around them by listening to people's voices and how they express their emotions. It's very important during these "face mask" wearing times we communicate with our infants by: making eye contact, singing, reading, smiling, and playing with them. It's also believed that infant socialization is the foundation of communication, encouraging healthy language development and even empathy.  

First Day of Kindergarten!

     Today was the first day of Kindergarten for some of our little graduates! We have been happy to assist a few of our families with the Distance Virtual Learning Program for the month of August. Today was a great start in learning the program, signing on affectively, practicing handwriting and the children got to see their new teacher and a few of their old friends they grew up with at our school! Here's to a great start to the new school year!
