So much Love!

We love celebrating holidays, creating beautiful artwork, and having fun together! Our Valentine's week was so much fun and special. Thank you to all the parents that helped contribute special snacks and goodies to the class parties, and for making such cute Valentine's for the children to give to each other. What a great way to teach sharing, caring, and remembering memories.

Nashville Public Library Puppet truck visits!

Today the children enjoyed an awesome marionette show performed by the Nashville Public Library. It was the story called "Lorraine, The girl who sang the storm away". It was very entertaining with the music and lights, and taught lessons concerning diversity and strength through bravery and family values. Thank you to the library for having programs like this to further children's interest in reading. A special thank you to Ms. Marie for inviting them to our school. Have a wonderful weekend!

February is Dental Health Awareness Month

Today friends from Little Harpeth Children's Dentistry visited the children to educate them on how to properly care for their teeth. They showed them demonstrations about "sugar bugs" and good foods vs. bad foods. The children had lots of questions and learned a lot. We're grateful they came to our school and just in time with Valentine's Day around the corner! Thank you for the information, new toothbrushes, awards, activity books, and stencils!

Classroom Safe Place and Conscious Discipline

The Academy schools are proud to offer many positive resources for parents and educators. One of the many ways our teachers help the children is through the consistent use of Conscious Discipline. Times have changed in our society, and new ways of offering positive choices and teachable moments has been proven more effective for children's development and self-regulating skills.

Conscious Discipline offers a relationship-based community model of classroom management concerning perception, unity, attention, free will, love, acceptance, and intention.
The value that Conscious Discipline teaches children paves the way for maturity and confidence as they grow.

In each classroom there is a "Safe place" for children to learn how to handle their emotions and have the space they need as they need it. For infants the safe place is in their caregivers arms, for toddlers it's on their educators lap. For our preschoolers, in every room there's an area of the room designed with signs, soft pillows, and special books of interest. The response to the program and the positive results are as rewarding for us as it is for them.

Baby it's cold outside!

This evening we hosted a hot chocolate bar for the parents and children. We love to do special things for our families, any chance to show our appreciation is a win! It was great to hear the laughter, conversations, and interactions between the families. Have a wonderful, cozy, and warm weekend, and thank you for sharing your little sweeties with us!
