Pre-K 2 Graduation

What a tear-jerker tonight's graduation ceremony was for the staff of AoHV and for the parents and families of the Pre-K 2 program. We started the night with a special video created by Mrs. Sallie and pictures of the children throughout the year with special music playing in the background. The children then lined up and walked out to the traditional graduation anthem and began to sing some of their favorite songs. After Mrs. Brittany called out their names one by one, the diplomas were all presented.  We had the cap-throwing and ate some delicious cake and punch that Mrs. Anne had made! Mrs. Chantel played a slideshow of their graduation portraits as they celebrated the victory. It was a magical and tearful evening as the teachers give up such sweet kids, to become big kids in kindergarten. We thank all of you for coming tonight and we will never forget the memories we have made with your young students. Good luck for a bright future and blessings to you all. Good Night.

A Lesson about the Weather

This week the kids are discussing the weather and making fun projects to go along with it. They have enjoyed making homemade tornadoes in a bottle and learning about how to keep safe during bad weather. Today we had a special visit from Mrs. Kelly Cox, a meteorologist from news channel 5. She read a story about weather to the children and explained how the clouds make rain. She was very informative and even told us where we can see her on Saturdays. It is so important to teach our kids how to be prepared for storms and inclement weather as well as know about how our world's weather works. Thanks so much Mrs. Cox for coming to see the kids at Harpeth Village today and teaching them about the weather.

TASK PUTS ON A DINOSAUR PLAY!

We've had a fun, but hot summer so we've been planning various indoor activities to play and learn from. Last week we talked about robots and Mrs. Anne made a really cool robot for us to have our pictures in. All this week we have been learning about Dinosaurs so the Task'ers put together a play and performed it for them this morning. We were so proud by how well they memorized their lines! They had the younger kids laughing and learning at the same time! They even made the kids a handmade matching puzzle for their classroom. It's so nice when our friends all work together to make our school such a fun place. Great job listening and learning about these miraculous creatures that once roamed the Earth millions of years ago!

Robot Week!

Teaching basic robotics to children is an excellent way to foster a love for science and engineering that will hopefully continue as they get older. Fun robot kits for kids are a way to introduce children to simple robotics engineering concepts. Robotics projects increase creativity, teach children to follow directions, and the finished product gives them a sense of accomplishment and confidence. Not only that, but they have a cool toy to play with when the project is complete.  In a world where instant gratification is often the norm, having to put a little time and effort in to building a toy will help kids to appreciate the toys they have and the mechanics behind them. Ms. Anne made us an amazing robot for all of us to enjoy during robot week!
