Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!
Our center has really enjoyed making art and decorations for our Dr. Seuss themed week. It's so cute to see all the little blue & red hand fish art and how devoted and talented our students and teachers are! Books are so important for our children's development and hearing them laugh at Dr. Seuss's riddles and rhymes is priceless!

Sensory Bottles
At AoHV we are always looking for creative ways to stimulate your children's minds through physical, social, cognitive, verbal & emotional development. In PS3 the children got to help make sensory bottles filled with sprinkles, confetti, wooden sticks, straws, beads, beans, rice colored with food coloring, & magnetic pipe cleaners. They worked together to use their fine motor skills to fill bottles that will later be used as shaker toys to hear different sounds and as sort and exploration toys in the science center. Great job teachers in including the children in the handmade projects for the class.

We Love Our Parents!
We had the most wonderful Valentine themed country style breakfast this morning for our families & children. We had a drawing for a Loveless gift basket valued at $100, congratulations to the Newhouse family for the win! The breakfast included country ham, white gravy, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, freshly cut fruit with biscuits and preserves from the Loveless Cafe. We thank all of our families for coming and being a part of such a great school and community.

Snow Babies!
Last week all of our children enjoyed watching the snow melt outside of their classrooms. The children in Infant 2 explored the snow through using their senses of touch, smell and sight. They mashed the snow in the palms of their hands and made a tiny snowman for the classroom. They even found a little ladybug and explored watching it crawl around on Mrs. Tonya's Hands. Exploration of our world comes at an early age at AOHV!

Getting Ready For Valentine's Day!
Our teachers and students are getting ready for the next holiday! We are showing our love throughout the center with artwork and decorations. We want to also "spread" the love and appreciation to our parents on Friday, February 5 with a complementary biscuit breakfast from the Loveless Cafe! We're so glad to all be part of such great loving families and teachers!

Snow Day!
Today the school age kids enjoyed having a day out of school! Their favorite activity was the snowball throw even though there wasn't as much snow as we thought. They also tasted the snowflakes and learned how snowflakes are made. They made snowflake snowmen with their hands and handmade hats. Be careful out there everybody.

Martin Luther King Jr.
We have been talking today about Mr. Martin Luther King Jr. and what a wonderful impact he had on our society. The children in the Pre K classes are learning to write down what their dreams are, and how important people they can become! We are so proud of our kids and what we're teaching them.
Itsy Bitsy Spider and Twinkling Stars
The children have been working very hard on their artwork and learning about the Itsy Bitsy Spider story. They love learning about the various types of bugs. Mrs. Anne even went room to room to show us this gigantic spider which wasn't so itsy bitsy!
2016 Fitness Fanatics
It's that time of year where talking about exercise and eating healthy is a positive learning experience for children and adults of all ages. We talk to the children as young as infant one about how exercising can help our bodies move! The oldest children at our center had a competition all week about who can be the most physically fit! The girls won the jumping jack contest completing 500 in a row! Keep moving kids!
Holiday Fun!
We really enjoyed our holidays and we're so thankful that everyone had a great break. The TASK kids enjoyed their time off from school by making winter decorations, having a cotton ball snowball fight, hot chocolate bar, and watching Polar Express. The annual Christmas party went wonderful for every class and our new year's celebrations were even better! Thank you to all the parents who were so thoughtful to the teachers, and thank you to the teachers for all the wonderful gifts and special hand made pictures and ornaments from the children! Welcome 2016!
