Sensory Week!

Sensory activities facilitate exploration and naturally encourage children to use scientific processes while they play, create, investigate and explore. Children use their senses everyday to explore the world around them. We love to create different sensory activities that stimulate all of their senses.

Water Play!!

Water play is not only incredibly fun for children but it also enhances a child's physical, cognitive, and social skills. When children pour water, they are improving their physical dexterity and hand-eye coordination. They extend their vocabulary as they learn new words and talk about what they are experiencing. They explore elements of science such as buoyancy and volume as they experience why some objects sink and others float. Children also experiment with math concepts such as empty and full, greater than less than, and even fractions as they explore things.

Movement!

Movement helps children focus and retain information that they have already learned! Movement also helps children self-regulate their behavior! Movement also helps curb negative behaviors, such as, fighting or bullying! Movement also helps children form healthy habits across their lifespan! This week, we are focusing on movement! The children had the chance to participate in a hula hoop contest, move through an obstacle course, and learn how movement helps our bodies grow big and strong! The children had a blast moving through all the fun activities!

Provocations!

What is a literary provocation? A literary provocation is an open ended activity designed to provoke thought and further connect children to literature and different learning materials! Literary provocations support the unfolding of ideas and theories as well as increasing their exploration of the outside world! This summer, the children have a chance to engage in literary provocations! They are loving participating in all the fun activities that are helping them learn and grow!
