The Power of Construction!

Construction play offers open ended opportunities for children to design and create imaginative structures. Using abstract, modular forms construction play presents a "what-if" question and allows children to construct and continually modify their own representations. Construction play requires fine and gross motor skills. Construction play enhances problem solving abilities, mathematic skills, and language skills. Construction play can also boost a child's self esteem!

"What should we build?"

"We're going to use the green legos!"

"We're going to use the blue legos!"

"I built an airplane!"

"My airplane goes fast!"

Art Exploration!

Art is a natural activity to support free play in children. The freedom to manipulate different materials in an organic and unstructured way allows for exploration and experimentation. These artistic endeavors and self-directed explorations are mot only fun, but educational as well. Art allows children to practice a wide range of skills that are useful not only for life, but also learning.

We are having so much fun with bubble art!
We like spraying chalk paint!

Art Is So Much Fun!

When we encourage our children to explore art, we encourage them to master themselves, their bodies, and a variety of tools and techniques. We give them many ways to express themselves. As parents and teachers, we can offer an environment where it is safe to experiment and create, where questions are encouraged and children have free access to the materials they need and enjoy. We do this so children are confident and comfortable with their creativity in whatever they do.

Have you ever eaten your paint? This paint is made of cool whip and kool aid!

Masterpieces!

There is no wrong way to create art and everyone has his/her individual creativity. We like to keep art projects light-hearted and fun and remember that a mess can always be cleaned up, but the memories of a good time will last forever!

Art At Play!

Footprint bounce art is a wonderful opportunity for infants to learn. Babies learn cause and effect when they see that their feet are making prints on the paper. They learn tactile and sensory skills from touching the paint and feeling how paint feels on their skin and in between their toes. They also develop language, because adults are guiding the infants at all times and engaging them throughout the activity. Words such as wet, squishy, cold, gooey, can help babies learn language and connect them to what they are experiencing.

STEM Challenge! Egg Drop!

First, what is STEM? STEM is an acronym for science, technology, engineering, and math. It's definitely the new word on the street because of our tech rich society and the lean towards the science and getting engaged early.
We took tons of ideas from our parents, students, and teachers to see what they thought would work to keep their egg safe from breaking. The children had a blast with this experiment , and it really is an all ages experiment. Thank you parents, for all the great ideas! All the eggs made it through the fall! You know what that means! Pizza Party!

We think a diaper will cushion the fall!
Maybe a beach ball full of pop corn and "lucky charms"!
Our idea is to have a parachute over the box!
The parachute has to work!
This egg is safe!
The suspense is getting us!
We used so many different types of supplies!
BUSTED!!!

Science Experiments!!

Science experiments are stimulating, hands-on, and sensory rich for discovery and exploration!! We are introducing basic science concepts through fun and visual experiments such as this Celery Experiment. It requires just a few items and is a fun way to teach children about how a plant absorbs water. This process is called Osmosis. We will learn how plants absorb water using colored water and celery stalks.
Have you ever tried making music with glasses or bottles filled with water? We did our own experiment with this! We made special sounds by turning glasses of water into instruments, make some cool music and to find out how it works.
